Hannah Schickedanz

Fine artist, Wellington, New Zealand

With an eye for observation and a love for the overlooked, each piece I create is a journey through memories, objects, and stories—a bridge connecting generations. My art is a celebration of the inherent beauty in the natural world, coupled with a deep yearning to rediscover humanity’s place within it.

Still life

In my calm, contemplative still lifes, I paint the poetry in everyday moments, turning memories and cherished objects into works of art that speak to the soul. Quiet and reflective, they are a balm for the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Figurative paintings

We are people, we are animals, we are nature. Through my tender figurative paintings, I ache towards a reconciliation with nature. I want to know what it would be like if we still connected intuitively with the natural world. I explore what it means to be human, what “human instinct” looks like, what “humankindness” might be.

Hi, I’m Hannah

From my home studio in Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington, New Zealand, I bring an eye for observation, and a love of the little things to my art. My work is imbued with a strong sense of composition cultivated over my years in the graphic design world.

There is nothing I’d rather be doing than creating art. Being able to spend my time deeply noticing the beauty in the world around me then translating that into art feels like a little miracle every time.
